Anna Mogilevsky taps into the depth of human character by exploring archetypal imagery, and inviting viewers to experience their own minds in a different light. In her mixed media pieces she brings to life different aspects of self- the protector, the teacher, the dreamer, the child, the artist, the nurturer, the feminine, and the masculine. These contrasting characters cooperate or work against each other, emphasizing similarities and differences between them. The inner states of the characters are described through body language and gesture, and are accentuated through color, texture and the application of unique materials and media. Combined with traditional oil painting, the textural and decorative qualities of fabrics and embroidery embedded in the work deliver a rich and colorful environment drawing the viewer into the ever deeper states of presence and experience.
